The organisation
The aim of obenstadt is to promote more roof uses in Hamburg as a habitat for all living creatures. In order to draw attention to this potential in our everyday lives and at the same time make it accessible to everyone, obenstadt organizes a wide range of activities and (cultural) events for the general public and experts

How do we do that?
We show what others are already doing.
We show what could happen on roofs - making the potential tangible for everyone.
We share roof knowledge.
With a variety of campaigns and cultural events, we make roofs and their potential a tangible experience for everyone.

These 37 km² are important for Hamburg's future!
Hamburg has grown to almost two million inhabitants in the last 10 years. Roofscapes are unused living space that is becoming increasingly scarce in large cities like Hamburg. obenstadt believes that roofs can offer solutions to the many challenges facing our cities. 37 km² of hidden, untapped potential for our lives in Hamburg and for Hamburg's future - we want to change that!

In Hamburg alone, there is an approx. 37 km² roofscape with an incredible amount of development potential that has hardly been used so far and is virtually being wasted. This corresponds to the size of Hamburg's city park, 25(!) times over.
