Useful information and tips for your festival visit
Questions always come up. Here we try to explain everything about the Hamburger Dachtage. To find out what you need to keep in mind on the roofs, you'll find our roof rules further down.
Visiting the main roof and the accompanying programme (Stadtteilschule Altona, Recha-Ellern-Weg 1, 22765 Altona) is possible without registration. For the other formats and roof visits, an (online) reservation is required:
For the expeditions and the events on the other roofs, an (online) reservation must be made in advance, as places are limited.
Your reservation confirmation is your entry ticket. Please always bring it with you. You can reserve a place directly via the "book now" button.
Admission to most events is free. At free events, you have the option to support us with a small donation.
For some events we charge a small fee, which must be paid during the online booking via Stager. The entire programme is organised largely on a voluntary basis. We appreciate your support! Your contribution makes it possible for us to organise further editions of the Hamburger Dachtage and (hopefully) discover even more roofs together!
You already have a ticket but can't attend after all? If you have reserved but can't come, please send us an email at info@obenstadt.de. That way we can give your place to someone else.
Your ticket is only ever valid for the booked tour, expedition or the respective event.
The ticket is checked at the beginning of the respective event, at the building entrance or at the roof access.
The main roof of the Stadtteilschule Altona is accessible without a ticket. Please note the opening hours. Only 199 people are allowed on the roof at the same time.
Please understand if there are too many people on the roof and you have to wait.
Unfortunately, most roofs are not barrier-free. If you are planning a visit, feel free to email us at info@obenstadt.de and we'll let you know which roofs you can visit.
For almost all expeditions, a good level of fitness is required, as we walk up to 30 minutes between the different roofs and also have to manage some stairs. Most lifts don't go all the way up to the roof.
For some expeditions there are additional requirements for the visit.
Please note the conditions before booking the expeditions and the Dachjagd (roof hunt). The requirements are also listed again separately for each programme item.
Yes, gladly, but please note the information on the individual roofs. In general: children up to the age of 12 may only take part accompanied by an adult. We recommend good footwear for all visitors. Babies should always be carried on the body. Prams are not allowed on most roofs.
Some roofs are only accessible to visitors aged 12 and over. Please note the conditions before booking the expeditions. The requirements are also listed again separately for each programme item.
No, unfortunately dogs are not allowed on our roofs.
It's best to get around by bike all weekend or use public transport.
Public toilets are available on the main roof. Otherwise, there are also public toilets at some of the other roofs or on the way there.

About the roof expeditions:
The expeditions are guided tours that take place at specific times. In a group of up to 20 people, you visit between 1–3 roofs. A tour guide accompanies you and tells you exciting information and stories about the building, the roofs and the surroundings.
The guides are a combination of obenstadt members, architects, building owners and roof users.
Please note: all expeditions are in German.
Other activities this weekend: There's a lot going on this weekend — be sure to check out the city-wide activities of our partners:

Hamburg Sustainability Week

An expedition lasts between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours. The exact durations are given for the respective programme items. Please also remember to bring enough to drink for longer tours.
Each expedition starts at a different point. We meet directly on site. Please note that we may not return to the starting meeting point at the end of the expedition.
On the expeditions you walk with a tour guide from one roof to the next. This can take up to 30 minutes. Please remember comfortable shoes! You are welcome to bring your bike.
For data protection reasons, there is no overview map. For the expeditions, the address of the starting point is always given.
In case of rain, the programme generally takes place. In case of storm warnings, strong wind and thunderstorms, we unfortunately have to cancel the programme. Should this be the case, or if the weather situation is not entirely clear, we will inform everyone via the website, email, on site and via our Instagram channel ([@obenstadt](https://www.instagram.com/obenstadt/)).
The weather on the roof can be somewhat different from on the ground (warmer/cooler). Please remember sunscreen and a (rain) jacket – and: the weather in Hamburg can change quickly.
Should anything change, we will inform you promptly via our website, email, newsletter and social media.
